Holiday home at it's finest.
We all love to have a little look into real homes full of interior inspiration. Our recent holiday in Portugal was at a true little paradise. Not much to see from the road, but when you step in you get welcomed by happy vibes and an amazing garden. We have travelled a lot, but this holiday was our favourite, all elements were just on point! You sleep and chill in a little paradise, you meet amazing people (well… we did), the food from Rachel is the best, surf lessons at a beautiful beach, yoga lessons in the Shala, the best massages and for sleeping we choose the tent with comfortable beds! It felt like we were sleeping outside…

the owners
Ed & Sofie Templeton. In 2009 they set up a little patch of paradise in Kerala (India) as an experiment, a life style choice, a reaction to the hectic media lives they’d been living, to enjoy the things they love – surfing, yoga, socialising and good healthy food whilst immersing themselves in Southern India’s way of life for a while. Sri Lanka was the second permanent venture, a hop, skip and a jump away from Kerala. Portugal is the third home of Soul & Surf.
the property
The farmhouse is steeped in the Portuguese hills, close to Lagos & just a short drive from those Atlantic rollers the place is famed for.
A rural retreat on the wild Atlantic coast. Whether you’re staying for a full week or just popping in for a long weekend, the Soul & Surf farmhouse is there to be your sanctuary.
the pool
After you check in, you get yourself a drink from the bar, enjoy the garden and dip in the the pool to refresh and soak in all those chill vibes and beautiful views!
the rooms
After your refreshing swim, you can join a tour through the house, see your room or your tent! The rooms can have a double bed, but most have single beds so it’s easy to share the room when you travel on your own. I love all the arches of this beautiful farmhouse, did you notice that beautiful arched door at the back? All rooms have white walls, original wooden doors, all accessories have natural elements and a bohemian feel to add to the calming and happy vibe of this home.
the tents
And how beautiful are these bell tents!! Still in love! We choose for the tent and it was just perfect. The luxury of the comfy beds and soft sheets, special boxes under your bed to store your clothes, fresh towels and when you come back from surf, your bed is made. Hotel luxury in a bell tent. It cools down a lot in the evening so it is definitely not too warm to sleep in a tent, just perfect!

the place to be for breakfast & lunch
This little nook in the shade is just perfect to start the day with a delicious breakfast. But also the best spot for a well deserved lunch in the shade after a good morning surf! Just a little shout out to Rachel, the chef of Soul & Surf, because all the food was truly amazing!! Day in day out!
the dining area
Dinner is served in the garden, next to the traditional pizza oven. Long wooden tables and benches. The garden has loads of little nooks to relax, either to enjoy the sun or to relax in the shade. I was amazed by all the beautiful fruit growing in here, the veggie plot, but most of all the huge avocado tree! True garden goals.
massages
Treat yourself on a massage with one of the talented therapists. Not only can you choose your treatment that suits you best, but you can also choose your location. Inside the quinta in one of the most beautiful & peaceful rooms I’ve ever been in. Or you can enjoy your treatment outside in the garden, feeling a little breeze and hearing those birds sing.
THE YOGA SHALA
Besides the daily chill vibes, you can enjoy yoga & meditation classes every day in the beautiful Yoga Shala. Built outside in the garden, surrounded by orange trees and lemon trees. You don’t have to bend like a pretzel to practise yoga & meditation in the Algarve, all levels are welcome! The daily lessons are a variety of Vinyasa Flow, Yin Yoga, Pranayama and meditation. Plus the possibility to book a one to one Yoga Session.
In the daily classes you choose your spot in the Shala, shade or sun, whatever you prefer. And if you decide to keep enjoying the poolside, that is also fine!
the beach
This beach is not part of the property, but when you stay at Soul & Surf they bring you to this beach daily to enjoy some surfing!!
